The CTA has no established programs in place at this time. Here are three
programs, however, that we are working on for this year:
- Shared Classroom Initiative -- Involves coordinating
opportunities for faculty to observe the teaching of a colleague either
in the same discipline or in a different discipline. The purpose of
the program is to offer GU faculty opportunities to converse about teaching
by observing other instructional methods and models. See Spring 2007
draft
announcement of program.
- New Faculty Mentorship Program – Involves pairing
new GU faculty members with a formal faculty mentor on campus. The purpose
of the program is to offer new facutly a more immediate means of getting
oriented to GU, its campus, its academic community, and its institutional
culture. See Spring 2007 draft
announcement of program.
- Peer-to-Peer Classroom Consultations – Involves
establishing a pool of experienced instructors across a range of disciplines
to provide 'on-call' classroom observations and post-teaching consultations
with requesting faculty members. The purpose of the classroom consultation
program would be to provide teaching faculty with a means to obtain
an 'third party,' confidential perspective on one’s teaching abilities
and methods.
