Schedule
The syllabus is here. The schedule below is a record of what we have actually done as well as an approximate projection of what we will do. Suggested book problems (from Thomas' Calculus: Early Transcendentals) will be listed for each section (odd only unless otherwise specified; solutions to odd-numbered problems are in the back of the book). These problems will not be collected or graded but they are a very important part of the class and you should solve them. WeBWorK assignments, worksheets, and quizzes will be posted as they are assigned.
- Week 1
- 8/31: 2.1 Rates of Change and Tangent Lines to Curves. A worksheet (also in .tex; solutions). Suggested problems: 1, 3, 5, 9, 11, 15, 19.
- 9/1: 2.2 Limit of a Function and Limit Laws. Suggested problems: 1, 3, 11-49, 57-61, 63, 65a.
- 9/3: 2.3 The Precise Definition of a Limit. Suggested problems: 1, 3, 7-21, 31-37.
- Week 2
- 9/6: Labor Day; no class.
- 9/7: 2.4 One-Sided Limits. Suggested problems: 1-7, 11-33.
- 9/8: Start 2.5 Continuity with a worksheet (also in .tex; solutions). WeBWorK 01_Limits_etc due by 11:59 PM today.
- 9/10: 2.5 Suggested problems: 1, 3, 5, 6, 7, 8, 13-49.
- Week 3
- 9/13: Finish 2.5 (IVT) and cover most of 2.6 Limits Involving Infinity; Asymptotes of Graphs. Suggested problems in 2.6: 1-19, 23-45, 53-59.

- 9/28: 3.5 Derivative of Trigonometric Functions. Suggested problems: 1-31, 61a, 63.

- 10/18: 3.11 Linearization and Differentials. Suggested problems: 1-11, 17-31, 45-53, 56, 59. Start 4.1 Extreme Values of Functions on Closed Intervals.

- 10/20: Review. Exam 2 from 2014 and even older practice problems (and their solutions). Exam cover page.
