The schedule below is a record of what we have actually done as well as an approximate projection of what we will do. Materials and assignments will be posted here as soon as they exist.
- Week 1
- 1/13: Discuss the syllabus and start 8.2
- 1/15: 8.2,3 and homework assigned (due 1/22):
- Chapter 8: 2, 3, 4, 11, 17, 18, 20, 23.
- Week 2
- 1/20: 8.3,4
- 1/22: 8.4 and homework assigned (due 1/29):
- Chapter 8: 22, 45, 46, 61, 62, 66b, 67, 71, 79, 88.
- Week 3
- 1/25: Finish chapter 8, 10.1, and a worksheet.
- 1/27: 10.2
- 1/29: 10.3
- Week 4
- Week 5
- 2/8: 11.4,5,7
- 2/10: Review. Practice problems in chapter 11: 6, 11, 21-25, 29-35, 43, 45, 49, 53-59 (odd only except #6).
- 2/11: Extra office hours 1:15-3:00.
- 2/12: Exam 1 (open book, open notes, bring a calculator)
- Week 6
- 2/17: Introduction to hypothesis tests
- 2/19: 13.1
- Week 7
- 2/22: Start of hypothesis test homework (due 2/26)
- 2/24: 13.5,6. Exam corrections due today.
- 2/26: 13.6,7
- Week 8
- 2/29: 13.8 and earthquakes. Homework assigned:
- Chapter 13: 8, 19, 20, 33, 34 due Friday 3/4. Solutions.
- Chapter 13: 1, 6, 29, 38 & 39, 47, 68, 76, 82 due Monday 3/14. Solutions.
- 3/2: 13.4 and 6.8 (briefly)
- 3/4: Type II errors and the power function (12.2,5)
- 2/29: 13.8 and earthquakes. Homework assigned:

- 3/14: R
- 3/16: 14.1,2 and final project description.
- 3/18: R worksheet
- Week 10
- 3/21: 14.1,2 and an R assignment due by email on Friday, 3/25.

- Week 11
- 3/30: 14.5. A least squares line.
- 4/1: More chapter 14, some R notes. Final project proposal due (via email). Homework assigned (due 4/4 or 4/6).
- Week 12
- 4/4: 14.6,7 and start 15? Some R notes.
- 4/6: Review and 15.2,3
- 4/8: 15.3 and exam 2 distributed (due 4/11)
- Week 13
- 4/11: Discuss the last R asignment. Exam 2 due today.
- 4/13: 9.1
- 4/15: 9.1,2, starting with a problem.
- Week 14
- 4/18: Continue chapter 9. Final project outline due.
- 4/20: Another day in chapter 9. Homework assigned (due 4/27):
- Chapter 9: 7, 12, 14a, 16, 17a, 23, 26, 29
- 4/22: Chapter 10.
- Week 15
- 4/25: A small R project due Friday, 4/29. Turn in a brief summary of what the data tell you along with a recommendation based on your findings: should I have fewer exams in Calc III?
- 4/27: Review (and an R fiddle). A reasonable-looking introduction to time series.
- 4/29: Project presentations
- Final Exam Week May 3-6
- Final Exam Schedule
- 5/2: Office hour 2:00-3:00
- 5/3: Office hour 3:30-4:30
- 5/4: Final presentations 8:00-10:00. Office hour 2:00-3:00
- 5/6: Final project due. A draft rubric.
