The schedule below is a record of what we have actually done as well as an approximate projection of what we will do. Readings, homework assignments, and worksheets will be posted as they are assigned. Most homework problems will come from The Book of Proof (freely available online). Homework sets are due by 2:00 PM on the date indicated. Portfolio entries should be printed and brought to class on the due date. A revised copy is due (by email) by 10:00 AM on the following day.

  • 8/29: discuss the syllabus and the proof portfolio (and maybe some questions or psuedaria).
    • Getting started with LaTeX. A good place to start installing LaTeX.
    • LaTeX Base. Another place to start (all you need if you can find a way to export pdfs).
    • ShareLaTeX. An online compiler free for personal use.
    • TeXworks. A free (simple) LaTeX editor (likely included with your LaTeX distribution).
    • Short Math Guide with all the symbols you'll need.
    • template.tex and template.pdf

• Week 2
  • 9/5: 1.5-7. Homework due today:
